In the coming weeks, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is expected to make his first trip as PM to Washington and meet with Joe Biden. In preparation for this meeting, CIA chief Bill Burns went to Israel and the West Bank last week.

In my latest for Responsible Statecraft, I look at the way a new chapter in the US-Israel relationship is shaping up, in the post-Netanyahu (at least for now) and post-Trump era. Examining the Iran deal, Jordan, China, and other issues, it becomes disturbingly how little the conditions around Israel’s occupation and denial of Palestinian rights are changing or are likely to. This despite the fact that Burns is also making a much-ballyhooed (by the PA) visit to Ramallah as well. More here.
