In my latest piece for The New Arab, I look at the new report from Amnesty International accusing and essentially proving that Israel is guilty of the crime of apartheid. I focus largely on the hysterical reaction this has produced in Washington, in the Israeli government, and in the anti-Palestinian movement that like to masquerade as representative of American Jews.

The bottom line, it is no longer possible to call yourself liberal, much less progressive or left wing, and defend in any way Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians. Those labels cannot be sustained if you cannot support universal rights for everyone. And that is incompatible with everything about Israel’s brutal treatment of the Palestinians.

To echo the title of my and Marc Lamont Hill’s book form last year (and out in paperback later this year, end shameless plug), it is simply no longer possible to be progressive Except for Palestine.
